US QWERTY keyboard

Default US ANSI board. Letters sit where English typists expect them. The on-screen board and this table follow the layout you picked in the exam settings. Set the same layout in your operating system so the keys you press match English on this page.

Home-row fingers rest on A S D F and J K L semicolon. Capitals and number-row marks use Shift.

This is the layout of most US clerical tests and of the English lessons on this site.

How to type letters on US QWERTY

Each row is a character that is not a plain unshifted English letter on that physical key. Shift and AltGr chords change with the layout.

LPO and law-office desks, not a High Court staff exam

Private legal-process outsourcing, court-reporting firms, and law-office transcription desks hire on timed legal prose. This is not a High Court staff exam. If you applied for a High Court post, open that judiciary page. Use this page for LPO and transcription jobs. Legal transcriptionists format pleadings, dictation, and hearing notes. Court reporters have extra realtime skills this page does not score. This rehearsal is five minutes, 50 WPM, legal pack, with a 90 percent-plus accuracy gate.

Employer tests include timed legal prose, sometimes audio. Visible text is easier than audio legal transcription. Latinisms and case citations are the traps. Eligibility is employer-specific; law degrees help but are not universal. Keyboard work does not rewrite a job post. A practice screenshot is not a joining letter. Nothing here is transmitted to a vendor or a High Court. Official recruiter tools will not look like this browser. Q&A captions and pleading formats sit outside this engine’s scoring.

Five minutes, 50 WPM, legal pack

Fifty WPM is a training target for visible legal text. Audio legal transcription is slower. Formatting captions and Q&A is extra and not scored here. Convert the job post. Official error-counting follows the vendor. This browser allows ordinary backspace so you can train recovery. If the vendor freezes the passage, add never-correct sittings. Hold accuracy first. A mistyped prayer clause is a professional incident, not a cute error. Court-reporting realtime skills are not scored on this visible-passage clock.

English legal prose is the medium. After you hold the timed gate, add custom lists of citations, party names, and Latinisms you mis-type. Do not memorise this finite pack as a form book. Official pleadings will not match. Read ahead and hit the current character, especially on quotation marks and case names. Deadlines before filings punish last-minute garbage speed. This page uses a five-minute legal pack with a 90 percent-plus accuracy gate.

Latinisms and citations as traps

Week one: three five-minute runs to see whether citations or party names fail first. Week two: custom lists of those strings. Week three: hold 50 WPM at high accuracy without collapsing in minute five. Week four: add audio if the posting says transcription from dictation, and add formatting if the vendor scores Q&A. Invert that order and you will have pretty civic WPM and a failed legal sample. SSC civic passages are the wrong weekly diet.

Stenography exams dictate at a set WPM and time your transcription. This page is visible legal text for private desks. SSC Stenographer and High Court PA posts need dictation practice as well. If your hall ticket is SSC Stenographer, open that card and pair audio. If your hall ticket is a High Court PA, open that court card. If the job is LPO, stay here. Same fingers, different spoken-matter load.

Audio legal transcription slower than visible text

A 55 WPM visible score is not proof you will hold 50 from counsel dictation. After you pass this page, practise from legal audio if the desk is audio. Pair audio with this keyboard so fingers are not the bottleneck. This card never plays spoken matter. Court-reporter realtime skills remain absent here. Live captioning and CART speeds are another card and another machine. Do not treat a 50 WPM visible gate as realtime certification.

Hyderabad and other LPO cities host many vendor tests that are not High Court skill tests. If you also applied to Telangana or Andhra High Court, open those cards for court service rules and Telugu clauses. Keep this card for the vendor floor. Same city possible, different letterhead. A vendor 50 WPM English test does not quote a High Court notice. Court service rules do not quote a vendor tool.

Formatting captions and Q&A not scored

Vendors who want Q&A layout will send their own sample. This page scores characters, not style. After you hold the typing gate, practise that layout in a word processor. Do not drop legal-prose endurance because you discovered tabs, and do not skip tabs because your WPM looks fine. Both gates can remove you if both are listed. Official tools remain the employer’s. The browser geometry will not match a pleading template.

Employer-specific eligibility still sits in the job post. The candidate name in settings is a local label. If a recruiter asks for a screenshot of any timed test, this page is informal proof only if they requested it. It is not an accredited legal-transcription credential. Many recruiters will still give you their own file. Arrive already above their line. Official offer letters always win. SSC Stenographer dictation remains a different skill family entirely.

Court-reporter realtime skills absent here

If a paragraph here conflicts with the job post, follow the job post. If the desk is High Court staff, you opened the wrong card. If the desk has no WPM line, you do not need this exam box for hiring — though clean legal spelling still helps. A 50 WPM practice gate is an employment floor, not a government cutoff. Nothing here is transmitted to a vendor. Official tools remain theirs.

Open Delhi High Court or another judiciary card if the admit card is a court. Open SSC Stenographer if the admit card is that Commission paper. Open the medical-transcription card if the desk is operative notes. Open this card if the desk is LPO pleadings. Sit the matching URL. Legal English overlaps. Dictation load and clinical vocabulary do not. Do not assume one transcription pack covers every desk in a law-and-health job fair.

Stenography exams still need dictation elsewhere

After joining an LPO desk, keep weekly sittings so legal English does not decay on a quiet week. Then type sample citations slowly enough to stay clean. Deadlines before filings will try to rush you. Rushing is how prayer clauses break. Accuracy on party names is the transferable habit. This pack is legal-transcription flavour, not a High Court CIS and not a steno machine. Official screens will not look like a browser.

Captioning is a different private speed desk with short lines and no timing-sync score on this site. If your job is subtitles, open that card. If your job is pleadings, stay here. Live CART needs speeds this page does not simulate. LPO needs citations captioning does not. Match the posting. Official vendor tests remain each desk’s own. Fifty WPM here is a training target for on-screen legal text, not audio.

Frequently asked questions about Legal transcription

Qualifying rules, languages, WPM versus official software, and how this practice paper is not a Private certificate.

No. Stenography exams dictate at a set WPM and time your transcription. This page is visible legal text for private transcription desks. SSC Stenographer and High Court PA posts need dictation practice as well. If your hall ticket is one of those, open that card and pair audio. If the job is LPO, stay here. This card never plays spoken matter. Court-reporter realtime skills are not scored. Official vendor tools and Commission clients remain each body’s own.
