Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 September 2026

This policy describes how India Typing Test (https://indiatypingtest.com) collects, uses, and stores information. The operator is Sai, reachable at sai8121999war@gmail.com. The site is hosted at indiatypingtest.com. If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the service.

We wrote this for candidates, parents, and advertising reviewers. It is meant to be readable. When we add or change a tracking technology — especially Google AdSense — we will change the date at the top and describe the new cookies here before those tags run on the live site.

Who this policy covers

It covers visitors to the public website, people who take typing tests without an account, and people who sign in with Google to keep a candidate profile. It does not cover official government exam portals. Those bodies have their own policies.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Optional Google account: name, email address, and profile photo, after you approve Google’s consent screen.
  • Profile fields you type: display name, location, target exam, and a short about line.
  • A practice name on a typing test or exam mock if you choose to appear on the 24-hour ranking.
  • Messages you send to sai8121999war@gmail.com, including your return address.

Information created by using the product

  • Personal bests for signed-in candidates: today’s best, this week’s best, and overall best (WPM, accuracy, language, time). We do not keep a full keystroke history.
  • Public 24-hour ranking rows: name, language, WPM, accuracy, time, and photo if you signed in.
  • Anonymous counts of completed tests used for “tests today” style statistics.

Information stored only in your browser

  • Theme preference (light or dark) in localStorage.
  • Lesson progress and custom word lists for guests, in this browser only.

Information our host may log

Like most sites, the server or reverse proxy may log IP address, date, requested URL, referrer, and browser user-agent to keep the service up, debug errors, and respond to abuse. These logs are not a marketing database.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site stores on your device. LocalStorage is a similar browser store. We use:

  • Session / authentication cookies when you sign in with Google, so we know it is still you on the next page. These are first-party cookies set by our domain through the auth library. They are needed for the signed-in profile to work. If you block them, Google sign-in will fail; the anonymous test still works.
  • LocalStorage for theme and guest lesson/custom-list progress. This is not sent to us on every click. Clearing site data for indiatypingtest.com deletes it.

You can refuse non-essential cookies in your browser settings. Essential auth cookies cannot be refused if you want to remain signed in.

Google sign-in

Sign-in is provided by Google. Google’s own privacy policy applies to the consent screen and to whatever Google stores on their side. We receive the profile fields you allow. We use them to create or update your candidate record and to show an avatar on the 24-hour list. We do not use your Google account to send Gmail, read Drive, or contact your friends.

Advertising and Google AdSense (not active yet)

We do not currently run Google AdSense or other third-party display ads. There is no AdSense script on these pages as of the date above. We intend to apply for AdSense. If Google approves the account and we enable ads, this section will be replaced with a live description, including:

  • That Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this site or other sites.
  • That Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to indiatypingtest.com and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • How users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and that they may also opt out via www.aboutads.info where available.
  • Links to Google’s advertising privacy page.

Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google, if we ever add them, will be named here. Until this policy is updated and dated again, do not assume advertising cookies from AdSense are present.

We will not place ads in a way that covers the typing caret or submit button. Invalid clicks (asking friends to click ads) are against Google policy and against our Terms of Use.

How we use information

  • To run the typing test, lessons, translator, exam mocks, and profile.
  • To show a 24-hour ranking and daily test counts.
  • To answer email and fix bugs.
  • To secure the site (rate limits, abuse, crash diagnosis).
  • To comply with law.
  • In the future, to show labelled ads if AdSense is enabled after this policy is updated.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent email lists.

Legal bases and Indian users

We process data to perform the service you ask for (a test, a profile), to pursue a legitimate interest in running a secure website, and to meet legal duties. If you are in a region with additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability), emailsai8121999war@gmail.com and we will honour what the law requires and what we can technically do. Deleting a Google-linked profile removes our candidate record; Google may still have its own logs.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly store profiles for them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete the record we can identify.

Retention

Guest browser data lasts until you clear it. Public ranking rows drop off after about 24 hours. Personal bests stay until you ask us to delete the profile or you never return and we later purge unused accounts. Hosting logs follow the host’s rotation. Email is kept long enough to resolve the request.

Sharing

We share data with: Google (sign-in, and advertising only after we update this policy); the hosting provider that serves indiatypingtest.com; and authorities when legally required. We do not share your practice scores with employers unless you screenshot them yourself.

Security

We use HTTPS. Passwords for Google stay with Google. No method is perfect. Do not type secrets into the practice box. Do not reuse an exam hall password here — we will never ask for one.

Your choices

  • Use the site without signing in.
  • Sign out and stop new profile writes.
  • Email a deletion request from the same address you used to sign in.
  • Clear cookies and localStorage for this site in your browser.
  • Use browser tracking protection; some features may break.

International processing

The operator is in India. Processors (Google, hosting) may be in other countries. If that is not acceptable, do not sign in and do not send personal email.

Changes

We will update the “Last updated” date when the policy changes. Material advertising changes will be described in the AdSense section above. Continued use after an update means you accept the new text, except where law requires consent.
