Marketplace filters, no official VA exam
Freelance marketplaces and virtual-assistant agencies set WPM in job posts. There is no official VA exam. Posts cover inbox, documents, CRM, and research support. Typing speed is a filter, not the whole job. This page is three minutes, 40 WPM, BPO-like English. It is not an accredited VA credential and not a commission paper. A client’s Google-doc test or a marketplace badge is the usual hiring shape. Official client tools will not look like this browser.
Forty WPM with high accuracy is a common Upwork-style line. Real VA work also needs formatting and English writing quality. Eligibility is none officially. Portfolio and English matter more than this mock. Keyboard work does not rewrite a client’s brief. A practice screenshot is informal proof only if they asked for a screenshot of any timed test. Many clients will still give you their own five-minute test. Arrive already above their line.
40 WPM / three minutes, BPO-like English
Treat 40 WPM as this page’s floor, not as a statute. Convert the job post. Some clients want 50. Official error-counting follows the client if they paste a passage into a doc. This browser allows ordinary backspace so you can train recovery. If they watch you in a live doc, never-correct sittings help. Hold accuracy first. Forty WPM with 98 percent accuracy is more hireable than 70 WPM sloppy. Clients read the mistakes.
English for most export VA roles. Add another language test on this site if the client is bilingual. Spoken Hindi on a domestic gig does not convert an English inbox test. Lock the language the brief named. This page can switch language; it cannot install the client’s laptop image. Changing script after they send the doc wastes a sitting. Portfolio writing quality still sits beside this clock. CRM and inbox tools after a hire will not look like this browser.
Screenshots as informal proof only if a client asked
Do not send this site’s result as a “certificate” to a client unless they asked for a screenshot of any timed test. It is practice. This site does not issue an accredited VA credential. If they did not ask, send a portfolio and a writing sample instead. If they did ask, a clean 40-plus sitting is enough informal proof for most filters. They may still retest you. Official briefs always win.
Week one: three honest three-minute runs to see whether names or email punctuation fail first. Week two: accuracy and a short writing sample beside the clock. Week three: hold 40 WPM at high accuracy; push five minutes if the brief said five. Week four: reread the brief, rest. Inbox tests are not this clock. This clock is not a research assignment. Split the week. Do not live here instead of writing a better portfolio.
Writing quality and formatting besides WPM
VAs type emails all day. They also write. A fast dirty email loses the client. After you hold the timed gate, practise formatting in a real doc: headings, lists, and clean paste from CRM fields. Do not drop typing endurance because you discovered Canva, and do not skip the brief’s writing task because your WPM looks fine. Both gates can remove you if both are listed. Official client tools remain theirs.
BPO floors on this site use a similar English pack at 30 WPM with an AHT warning. If the job is a process floor, open that card. If the job is a marketplace VA, stay here. Same operational English family, different hiring story. Opening the BPO card teaches the wrong KYC-quality warning. Opening this card does not issue an AHT score. Match the posting. This site does not issue an accredited virtual-assistant credential.
40 with 98 percent more hireable than 70 sloppy
That sentence is the hiring argument for this card. Clients who can write will notice errors. Clients who cannot write will still notice names. After you join, keep a short weekly sitting so the skill does not decay between gigs. Then type sample client names and email subject lines slowly enough to stay clean. Wrong names are a professional incident on a small retainers. Accuracy on identifiers is the product.
If a paragraph here conflicts with the brief, follow the brief. If the gig has no WPM line, you do not need this exam box for hiring — though clean email typing still helps. A 40 WPM practice gate is an employment floor, not a government cutoff. Nothing here is transmitted to a marketplace. Official badges remain the marketplace’s, if they exist, and they are still not this site. Spoken Hindi on a domestic gig does not convert an English inbox test.
Portfolio beats this mock
Spend more hours on work samples than on raising 40 to 55 WPM. Speed is a filter. Writing is the job. Use this clock to clear the filter, then return to the portfolio. People who invert that order have a pretty WPM and an empty profile. Optional keyboard fitness is harmless. Official-mock thinking is expensive when there is no official exam. The candidate name in settings is a local label.
Open the content-publishing card if the desk is editorial clean prose with an accuracy-first caveat. Open the BPO card if the desk is a process floor. Open this card if the desk is a VA inbox. Sit the matching URL. English typing overlaps. Portfolio weight and AHT do not. Do not assume one private pack covers every “type for a client” posting. Official client tests remain each desk’s own. Writing quality in the second language still matters more than a three-minute clock.
Clients who still give their own five-minute test
Ask how long their sample is. If they say five, over-train after you hold three. Endurance that looks fine for 180 seconds can fade in a live doc with the client watching. Official timers will not match this browser. Match characters anyway. Smile, type cleanly, and do not argue a screenshot if their passage is different. Arrive already above their line. That is the only honest use of this card.
After a retainer starts, keep weekly sittings in the language you work in. Inbox volume will try to rush you. Rushing is how names break. Formatting still sits beside speed. This pack is BPO-like English flavour, not a CRM. Official screens will not look like a browser. Look at every client name twice. Accuracy is more hireable than a sprint trophy you will never show twice. Portfolio samples decide more interviews than a practice WPM printout.
