What is the IBPS PO 2026 selection process and exam pattern?

Stages are Prelims (qualifying), Mains (objective + descriptive, used for merit), Personality Test (self-report, mandatory but non-qualifying) and Interview. Final merit is typically 80 percent Mains and 20 percent Interview. Prelims: 100 questions, 60 minutes, three sections with 20 minutes each (English 30 Q / 30 marks, Quantitative Aptitude 35 Q / 30 marks, Reasoning 35 Q / 40 marks). Mains objective: 170 questions, 200 marks, 160 minutes (Reasoning 40/60 in 45 min; General / Economy / Banking / Digital & Financial Awareness including RBI circulars 50/60 in 35 min; English 40/20 in 35 min; Data Analysis & Interpretation 40/60 in 45 min), then Essay & Comprehension 25 marks in 30 minutes. Negative marking in objective tests is one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question. Some older websites still show the previous 145-question Mains — do not use that for 2026.

What is the eligibility and age limit for IBPS PO 2026?

You need a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, with a valid mark sheet / degree showing percentage at registration. Computer working knowledge is required because the exam is online. Age as on 01 July 2026 is 20 to 30 years (born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2006). Relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3 years, PwBD 10 years, Ex-servicemen 5 years, and other clauses in the notice (including specified widows / divorced women where applicable). Nationality follows the notification (India, Nepal, Bhutan, specified Tibetan refugees and PIOs). There is no cap on attempts other than age. Graduation should be completed by the date IBPS specifies in the advertisement (commonly the registration close / specified EQ date).

What is the IBPS PO 2026 application fee?

SC / ST / PwBD candidates paid Rs 175 (inclusive of GST). All other categories, including General, OBC and EWS, paid Rs 850 (inclusive of GST). Payment was online only (debit / credit card, net banking, UPI). Fees are non-refundable. The last date to pay was 26 July 2026, the same as the extended last date to apply. What is the IBPS PO salary in 2026?

The officer scale used in this cycle is commonly quoted as Rs 48,480–2000/7–62,480–2340/2–67,160–2680/7–85,920. In-hand pay at joining is often discussed in the Rs 74,000–76,000 band depending on city (DA, HRA, special allowance, transport). That is not a single “fixed salary” for every posting. Allowances, leased housing and medical benefits follow the allotted bank’s rules after joining. Open the pay table on this page and the official notification; ignore random “9 lakh CTC” graphics unless they match the bank you are allotted.

Is there a Personality Test in IBPS PO 2026?

Yes. CRP PO/MT-XVI added a Personality Test after Mains. It is a self-report assessment. The profile is shared with the interview panel. It does not carry qualifying marks, but you must appear; missing it makes you ineligible for Interview. It may be proctored online or at a centre, as IBPS decides. Do not confuse it with the Interview. Interview is still conducted by participating banks (often quoted as 100 marks, with typical minimums around 40 percent General and 35 percent reserved categories — confirm in the notice). Final merit remains Mains plus Interview.

Which banks participate in IBPS PO 2026?

Eleven public sector banks: Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. You apply once and give bank preference. IBPS allots provisionally on merit-cum-preference; after that the bank issues joining. Union Bank of India vacancies were NR in the 27 August 2026 annexure. Preference order still matters because a bank with NR today can report posts later, and you cannot casually swap after allotment.

Enter Registration Number and Password / Date of Birth.
Download the stage-wise call letter (Prelims was already held; next is Mains before 4 October 2026).
Carry the printed call letter and photo ID as printed on the letter.
After Mains, watch the same login for Personality Test schedule — skipping it blocks Interview.
Bank preference given in the form is used at provisional allotment; IBPS does not keep changing your bank after allotment.
